Resumen

Introducción: La práctica de la medicina basada en la evidencia es un proceso en el que se crea la necesidad de información clínicamente importante sobre el diagnóstico, el pronóstico, la terapia y otros problemas clínicos y de atención médica.

Objetivo: enfatizar sobre la situación actual de la reumatología basada en evidencias, destacando los avances y limitaciones que tiene la especialidad en este sentido.

Desarrollo: la reumatología basada en evidencias proporciona recomendaciones fundamentadas científicamente para la práctica clínica como resultado del análisis de numerosa información generada por fuentes confiables.

Conclusiones: en la especialidad de reumatología aún se tiene un grupo de enfermedades en las cuales la experiencia de la práctica clínica es la que guía el trabajo de los profesionales, pues no existe para ellas evidencias respaldadas por investigaciones de gran alcance.
